A DAY LIKE NO OTHER
(John 4 the Samaritan woman)
She woke up thinking that this day would be like every other day. She stretches gets out of bed where her current love interest is still sleeping. She wonders why she even continues to try and make a relationship work. After all she has had 5 husbands and she can’t bring herself to finally commit to this new man in her life. She was hoping he would be the answer to the unhappiness which is constantly a part of her life. She can’t bring herself to stop pursuing happiness through a string of relationships. She just knows somewhere is the right guy who can bring her contentment. But, none of these sorry men have been able to fulfill that something missing in her.
She tinkers around the house in the morning knowing she will have to go to draw needed water from the well today. She would like to go in the morning with the rest of the women, but they have let it be known someone as immoral as her is not welcome at the morning gatherings beside the well. So, she waits until later in the day when only she will be at the well. Thus, avoiding the pain of rejection from the other “Ladies” which has become a part of her daily routine. It is just so much easier to avoid the pain and the truth than face being judged on a daily basis.
When she started her walk to the well on this particular day little did she know this day was going to be like no other. This was going to be a day worth remembering a day which would change everything forever.
Meeting Jesus is guaranteed to change everything. Just as he did for this woman. You too can have a meeting with Jesus at the well. If you do you will never be the same.
