Light Shines
John 1:5 And the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it.
Because of the light:
- We were dead but now alive: Eph. 2:4,5 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us , even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved
- We were enemies but now reconciled – Rom. 5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.
- We were slaves of sin but now justified from sin – Rom 6:5-7 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall also be in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he who has died has been justified from sin.
- We have been rescued from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of the Son (who is the light which came into the world- See John 1:4) – Col 1:13 – Who rescued us from the authority of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
When we see the Light
Jesus gave us life, to see, to be delivered into the kingdom of light, and for his glory to shine into our hearts
- Death to life – But God made us alive, We were born again and can now see – John 3:3
- From blind to seeing – I was blind but now I see – John 9:25
- From darkness to light – Transferred! To the kingdom of Light. Col 1:13-14
- Light has shone in our hearts – 2 Cor 4:6
John 3:3 Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
John 9:25 He answered, “Whether he is a sinner I do not know. One thing I do know, that though I was blind, now I see.”
Col. 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
2Cor. 4:6 For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
The outcome:
- We walk in the light: we follow him – John 8:12
- When we believe we do not remain in darkness – John 12:46
- We believe and are saved – 1 Cor 1:21
- Our eyes are no longer blinded – John 12:40 and 2 Cor 4:4, because we see – John 12:45
- We have unblinded eyes – We are delivered from darkness and Satan, forgiven, and sanctified in faith – Acts 26:16-18
- We have changed hearts – 2 Cor 4:6
John 8:12 ¶ Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
John 12:46 “I have come as Light into the world, so that everyone who believes in Me will not remain in darkness.
John 12:40 “HE HAS BLINDED THEIR EYES AND HE HARDENED THEIR HEART, LEST THEY SEE WITH THEIR EYES AND UNDERSTAND WITH THEIR HEART, AND RETURN AND I HEAL THEM.”
John 12:45 “And he who sees Me sees the One who sent Me.
2Cor. 4:4 in whose case the god of this age has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
1Cor. 1:21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well-pleased, through the foolishness of the message preached, to save those who believe.
2Cor. 4:6 For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.
The only questions now:
Have you been born again? Can your eyes see? Can you see the light? Do you follow the light of the world?
Can you claim? You are alive? But God being rich in mercy and great love when you were dead made you alive
Do you believe this? We were enemies but we are reconciled.
