THINKING BIBLICALLY TODAY

THIS BLOG ADDRESS THE QUESTION – WHY DO I NEED A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW?

  • 1. No biblical worldview – you will believe in anything “When men choose not to believe in God, they do not thereafter believe in nothing, they then become capable of believing in anything.” ― G.K. Chesterton
  • 2. No biblical worlview – Leads to a multitude of standards and beliefs. Where God and His word are not the standard then people will do whatever is right in their own eyes. Judg. 21:25   In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
  • 3. No Biblical worldview – People spiral down and are given over to an unfit mind to do those things which are not proper. Romans 1:18-32

Why should you read this Blog?

  1. I believe a biblical worldviw is necessary to ground us in Christ and keep our minds from being stripped away to evil.
  2. I believe it is necessary because with a biblical worldview it is possible to compare what the bible declares agaimst the great issues of our day.
  3. I believe it is necessary to have a biblical worldview as a foundation to successfully live Godly and faithfully in this life.

Chapters Genesis 1 to 3 are the foundation chapters for the rest of the bible.

In these chapter God has provided for us the 6 foundational elements of a biblical worldview. Seem below are the 6 foundational elements of a biblical worldview. These underpin the full biblical message concerning the glorious Gospel.

  1. God is/God created – Gen 1:1
  2. Man made in His image and given a purpose – Gen 1:26-27, Gen 1:29-30,
  3. God speaks to us – Gen 1: 29-30
  4. God makes the rules – Gen 2:15-17
  5. Man wants to be his own God and pays the price – Gen 3:1-7
  6. Man hides God finds. Salvation and Reconciliation is of the Lord.  – Gen 3:8-21

The first foundation stone in a biblical world view – God is and God Created

Gen. 1:1 ¶ In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

This may be the first and maybe most important verse ever written.  Because if this is true everything else, we come across in the bible is possible.  The flood, the parting of the Red Sea, the manna in the wilderness, the virgin birth, Jesus walking on water, calming the sea, feeding the 5000 and the 4000, all the healings and most importantly the resurrection and finally His second coming and our eternal hope.

God created/God exists is the first key principles of a Biblical worldview.  Since God exists eternally and created everything with a purpose then also our individual lives are meaningful and have a grand purpose set firmly in the will of God.  If God does not exist, we are no more than fizzing bags of chemicals who exist with no purpose and for no reason. If there is no creator, then our life is meaningless and we live we die and nothing we did while we were alive has any real or lasting meaning.

If God did not create then nothing created.  I want to suggest “something” must come from “something or someone”.  If there is nothing, then nothing can be created.

You can Chose!

  • If God created you – then your life and all you do is meaningful and you will live
  • If Nothing created you – then ultimately your life in meaningless and you will die

Summary table: Two competing views of Creation – God or Nothing

Before Time, Matter and Space
God was and is and will ever be Gen 1:1 Ex 3:14 Ps 90:1-2There was nothing
God created something Gen 1:1Nothing created something
God designed this something for a purpose and His Glory Rev 4:11 Eph 1:9-10 Isa 43:6,7In Nothing’s creation everything evolved with no plan and the result of everything is and will always be meaninglessness
God’s design includes man in His image, put here for a purpose, to love one another and care for the creation and to love, know and obey God Gen 1:26-31In Nothing’s creation there is no love, no right and no wrong, no ultimate meaning. Just each person doing what is right in his own eyes
God’s creation leads to a life of joy and fullness within a creation which displays His Glory to its fullness Eph 1:5-6 Eph 2:4-7 John 15:11Nothing’s creation ends in a dark, dead, cold universe.
God’s final result – The opportunity to be in Paradise with God Rev 22:1-5Nothing’s final result – -459⁰F.  No life just a cold dark assimilation of space, time and matter
Access to paradise Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved. Acts 16:31 Rev 21:3-4Access to Nothing’s dark cold universe. All are invited to the end result of nothingness.  Anything you did, any love you gave, any achievements in this life are ultimately meaningless
