THINKING BIBLICALLY TODAY

THIS BLOG ADDRESS THE QUESTION – WHY DO I NEED A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW?

  • 1. No biblical worldview – you will believe in anything “When men choose not to believe in God, they do not thereafter believe in nothing, they then become capable of believing in anything.” ― G.K. Chesterton
  • 2. No biblical worlview – Leads to a multitude of standards and beliefs. Where God and His word are not the standard then people will do whatever is right in their own eyes. Judg. 21:25   In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
  • 3. No Biblical worldview – People spiral down and are given over to an unfit mind to do those things which are not proper. Romans 1:18-32

Why should you read this Blog?

  1. I believe a biblical worldviw is necessary to ground us in Christ and keep our minds from being stripped away to evil.
  2. I believe it is necessary because with a biblical worldview it is possible to compare what the bible declares agaimst the great issues of our day.
  3. I believe it is necessary to have a biblical worldview as a foundation to successfully live Godly and faithfully in this life.

Chapters Genesis 1 to 3 are the foundation chapters for the rest of the bible.

In these chapter God has provided for us the 6 foundational elements of a biblical worldview. Seem below are the 6 foundational elements of a biblical worldview. These underpin the full biblical message concerning the glorious Gospel.

  1. God is/God created – Gen 1:1
  2. Man made in His image and given a purpose – Gen 1:26-27, Gen 1:29-30,
  3. God speaks to us – Gen 1: 29-30
  4. God makes the rules – Gen 2:15-17
  5. Man wants to be his own God and pays the price – Gen 3:1-7
  6. Man hides God finds. Salvation and Reconciliation is of the Lord.  – Gen 3:8-21

John 6:41-45 – Unless the Father draws

John 6:35-40   Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst. 36 But I said to you that you have seen Me, and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. 39 Now this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”

John 6:41-45   Therefore the Jews were grumbling about Him, because He said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.” 42 They were saying, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does He now say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” 43 Jesus answered and said to them, “Stop grumbling among yourselves. 44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. 45 It is written in the prophets, ‘AND THEY SHALL ALL BE TAUGHT BY GOD.’ Everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes to Me.

Quick review

VS 36 – the crowd did not believe even though they had seen him.

Vs 37 – The Father gives – All the Father gives to me

VS 37 – All those given “will” come to Me (Jesus)

VS 37 –  All who come “will” never be cast out

VS 38 – Jesus came down from heaven to do the Father’s “will”

VS 39 – What is the will of the Father? It is all that He gave to Jesus, Jesus will lose nothing, but it will be raised up on the last day.

VS 40 – Raises the Issue – what is the difference between those to “sees” Jesus in verse 36 and did not believe and those here who see and believe and get raised up on the last day.

VS 44,45 clarifies who sees and believes:

Step 1 — Father gives: Only those whom the Father draws are able to come to Him – So logically those not coming are not drawn.

Step 2: The one who comes will be raised up on the last day

Step 3 – All given come: WE know all the Father gives to Jesus come to him vs 37,

Step 4 – VS 44 – No one can come unless the Father draws him that person will be raised up on the last day.

Step 4 – VS 45 – How and why did they come, they came because the drawing or the giving are those TAUGHT BY GOD, Those who the Father teaches are those who have heard and learned comes to Him

So why do some believe and not others:

  1. Some see Him but do not believe, Why? (vs 36)
  2. Why did they not see and believe. Because they are not given to Jesus by the Father. Therefore, they were not drawn by the Father.
  3. Those who believe are given by God to Jesus (vs 37) and those who are given are drawn by the Father and they hear him and they are taught by Him (vs 44,45)
  4. Those given will come and will be raised on the last day. (vs 37)
  5. Those coming will never be cast out – I.E. have eternal life
