THINKING BIBLICALLY TODAY

THIS BLOG ADDRESS THE QUESTION – WHY DO I NEED A BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW?

  • 1. No biblical worldview – you will believe in anything “When men choose not to believe in God, they do not thereafter believe in nothing, they then become capable of believing in anything.” ― G.K. Chesterton
  • 2. No biblical worlview – Leads to a multitude of standards and beliefs. Where God and His word are not the standard then people will do whatever is right in their own eyes. Judg. 21:25   In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.
  • 3. No Biblical worldview – People spiral down and are given over to an unfit mind to do those things which are not proper. Romans 1:18-32

Why should you read this Blog?

  1. I believe a biblical worldviw is necessary to ground us in Christ and keep our minds from being stripped away to evil.
  2. I believe it is necessary because with a biblical worldview it is possible to compare what the bible declares agaimst the great issues of our day.
  3. I believe it is necessary to have a biblical worldview as a foundation to successfully live Godly and faithfully in this life.

Chapters Genesis 1 to 3 are the foundation chapters for the rest of the bible.

In these chapter God has provided for us the 6 foundational elements of a biblical worldview. Seem below are the 6 foundational elements of a biblical worldview. These underpin the full biblical message concerning the glorious Gospel.

  1. God is/God created – Gen 1:1
  2. Man made in His image and given a purpose – Gen 1:26-27, Gen 1:29-30,
  3. God speaks to us – Gen 1: 29-30
  4. God makes the rules – Gen 2:15-17
  5. Man wants to be his own God and pays the price – Gen 3:1-7
  6. Man hides God finds. Salvation and Reconciliation is of the Lord.  – Gen 3:8-21

John 6:40 (LSB)

Before addressing John 6:40 let’s review

  • At the beginning of John 6:1,2 we learn there was a crowd following him because of the signs of healing (Note: they were following for what he could do for them)
  • Then he feeds the 5000 John 6:3-15 because of this the crowd was wanting to make him king. I mean who would not like a king who can heal the sick and feed the people miraculously.
  • Then a after a little hard rowing and some walking on water – John 6:16-25. The disciples and Jesus go to the other side of the lake (with a little added miracle of walking on water), the crowd followed of course.
  • John 6:26-34 – The Main point is the crowd was following Jesus for what he can do not for who He is, Jesus responds
    • John 6:26 Truly, truly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.
    • They then challenged him to perform a sign so they would believe (Jews seek for a sign – 1 Cor 1:22.
      • Apparently healing the sick and
      • Feeding the 5000 was not enough for them to believe.
    • Jesus corrects them on who provided the manna – it was not Moses but the Father. (Jesus is now the bread who comes from Heaven)
  • John 6:35-36 – Jesus sums it up – you are following for physical bread and thus they fail to recognize who He is and fail to believe, they “SEE” but do not believe
  • John 6:35-40 – The “I Wills” will demonstrate how someone is saved
    • All the Father gives to me WILL come to me
    • All the Father gives to me I WILL never cast out
    • All who come to me I WILL never cast our

This is how I (and you) was saved – The Father gives me to the Son, because of this giving came to the son (See and Believe vs.40), I WILL never be cast out.

[40] For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I myself will raise him up on the last day.” Vs. 40 amplifies what has come before.  Since the Father gives me to the Son it is on this basis I will see and believe, based on this I come in faith to my savior Jesus and he will never cast me out.
